Timothy David Minchin is an Australian comedian, actor, writer, musician and director. He was born in Northampton, England, to Australian parents, but raised in Perth, Western Australia.

In 2013, the University of Western Australia awarded Minchin an honorary Doctor of Letters degree for his contribution to the arts, recognising his outstanding achievements and worldwide acclaim as a composer, lyricist, actor, writer, and comedian.
