Georgian Director Géla Babluani, who directed and wrote his first feature film, the original film French-language 13 Tzameti (2005), remade this film for English audiences.

13 (2010) centers on a naive young man played by Sam Riley (Control) who assumes a dead man’s identity and finds himself embroiled in an underground world of power, violence, and chance where men gamble behind closed doors on the lives of other men.

Definitely one of the most impressive casts: Sam Riley, Mickey Rourke, Ray Winstone. Jason Statham, getting a rare chance to actually be an actor and Alexander Skarsgaard, Ben Gazzara and Michael Shannon.

Director Géla Babluani manages to bottle the same, raw, insane energy of the original. An edgy, intense true film noir and finally a film that can be called a justified remake. If you have a chance watch the original as well. Click here for the trailer.
