A week in the Provence, France

What an incredible relaxed week it was. I didn’t bring my Macbook with me so I didn’t read any e-mail, article or even peaked at a video. Besides the yearly returning Cannes Film and Lions Festivals It has been 10 years since I visited Paul Cézanne’s region of the Provence. In 2001 I lived in Antibes for a year. A good friend of mine rented a beautiful villa in Mimet. We where with 6 good friends in total and we didn’t do anything more then listening to music (especially to Eric Clapton’s 2010 album ‘Clapton’), some real talking (with no Iphone in hand-reach or on table), sleeping, reading, swimming and barbecuing. Most of Provence has a Mediterranean climate so you will find yourself in an ultimate relax mode with an average of 29°C / 84.2°F throughout the whole period of July and August. We also made some short visitis to the beautiful city centre of the 123 BC build Aix-en-Provence, Toulon, Marseille (not a huge fan) and Saint Tropez. With so much more interesting cities to visit like St-Rémy-de-Provence and Antibes (former retreats of Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso), Frédéric Mistral’s, Christian Lacroix’s and The Gipsy King’s Arles, Pierre Boulle’s Avignon, Belinda Carlisle’s Fréjus and la capitale mondiale des parfums Grasse I will return next year with an extra week or two. On to Sardinia in September! XBart.
