Paris Saint-Germain football striker Zlatan Ibrahimović took the football world by surprise yesterday with the release of a humanitarian campaign addressing hunger. Saturday, February 14th 2015, just another normal French league match between Paris Saint-Germain against Stade Malherbe Caen. Where we normally see football strikers regularly taking off their shirts after a scored goal, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Rosengard (Malmo ghetto) born, son of a tough Croatian mother and hard-drinking Bosnian father, unveiled the tattoos (removable), after scoring a goal, with names of 50 people suffering from hunger around the world ______WATCH HERE ______ Ibrahimović gesture is to raise awareness for famine. This in accordance with the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security called – World Food Programme. (WFP) (branch of the United Nations) …. 805 million people are suffering from hunger today. Make sure the world knows…. The campaign released only 25hrs ago, already has more then 236 online media articles, 5.2 million Facebook video views and 1.5 million youtube views – PRESS CONFERENCE – VIDEO. The campaign was made possible through the generosity of the Swedish Ad Agency Forsman & Bodenfors (Volvo Trucks – The Epic Split feat. Van Damme), which worked pro-bono in close collaboration with film production company Newland/Iconoclast.tv, and the spot is directed by the incredibly talented Gustav Johansson (MADE BY SWEDEN). Media integration agency Matter, Lundgren & Lindqvist and Be On/AOL. 

Here some shocking WFP Hunger facts:

  • About 805 million people, or one in nine, worldwide do not have enough to eat. 
  • In 2015 WFP aims to provide 17.12 billion daily rations in 150 projects to about 78 million people in 76 countries. 
  • In 2014, WFP bought food from 93 countries worldwide (75 developing and 18 developed countries) valued at US$1.26 billion (2.2 million metric tons). 
  • WFP has greater logistical capacity and operates a larger transport network than any other humanitarian organization. On any given day, 5,000 trucks and 50 aircraft, 30 ships are delivering food across the globe. 
  • WFP relies entirely on voluntary contributions for its operations.
