Snoop Lion (VIDEO)

After the Marley documentary directed by The Last King of Scotland Director Kevin Macdonald, Usain Bolt’s 9.63 Olympic record and Yohan Blake’s silver in the 100 (Usain Bolt vs. 116 years of Olympic sprinters), a new Jamaican influence arised on July 30th namely Snoop Lion. The doc Reincarnated features nobody else then Hip Hop artist Snoop Dogg. A co-production of Vice Films and Snoop’s own Snoopadelic Films. It all evolves around Snoop travelling and living in Jamaica and changing his name to Snoop Lion. Why? Well Snoop says that he was and still is captured by the Rastafarian culture. And this is how he basically ended up producing his first reggae record with Diplo. Even though this perfectly coordinated and marketed artistic ‘change’ comes at the right time cause Snoop’s career was moving towards TV series like Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, roasting Donald Trump, phoning in verses on Katy Perry Top 40 hits and writing rap songs about True Blood it all feels somehow right to me. Hey….It is what it is! Check the FUSE Press Conference here and the Trailer here. Listen to Snoop Lion’s first single “La La La” here (Vice Records). The doc Reincarnated will premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival September 7th. Can’t wait for the album and doc. Watch-Like-Share.
