“The Dutch and their VOC mentality”

The worldwide success of Dutch dance music is undeniable. Dutch DJ’s and producers like Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn, Tiësto, Afrojack, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Fedde le Grand, Laidback Luke, Headhunterz, Nicky Romero and Hardwell are performing all over the world. And not to forget the record label Armada Music (14 DJ’s in DJMag top100), the world’s largest music for picture and brand Agency MassiveMusic and the 18 countries touring dance event concept called Sensation. Dutch dance music generates 40% of all Dutch music export which was €72 million in 2011. How is it possible that this small country has such a large influence on the dance scene, and what is it exactly that this influence entails? This year the Amsterdam Dance Event will have the official opening of a Jammin Agency produced documentary called ’Dutch Influence’. On the 17th of October the ‘Pathé Tuschinski’ theatre will host the premiere. WATCH THE TRAILER HERE
