The Hidden Costs of Hamburgers (VIDEO)

Watch the brilliantly made short animated video here. The video is part of the “Food for 9 Billion” project, which explains just how costly it is to eat a burger. On average, Americans eat three hamburgers a week. That’s a national total of nearly 50 billion burgers per year. But what are the hidden costs? It turns out that industrial beef creates about as much greenhouse gas pollution as cars, planes and other forms of transport. It also takes a heavy environmental toll on land and water worldwide. How can we reduce our impact? Simply by eating less beef and burgers. I am in! You? This video and story was produced by the Center for Investigative Reporting (America’s oldest nonprofit investigative reporting organization) as part of the Climate Desk collaboration. You can read an annotated transcript of this video here. Watch-like-share.
