The dark side of our cell phones

Think before you buy

When Jony Ive speaks (SVP Design Apple Inc.) of the device you use most in your life (IPhone5) and how if feels in your hand and the materials it has been made with, a horrible chill goes down my spine.

The fact of the matter is Mobile-phone manufactures find their minerals in the DR Congo (BBC News) where mines are run by warlords. Who then use the funds to finance private armies. So basically by purchasing conflict minerals, phone companies are financing a civil war according to human rights organisations. And it has been the bloodiest conflict since World War II.

During the last 15 years, it has cost the lives of more than 5 million people with 300,000 women having been raped. When you have the time I highly recommended watching the documentary “Blood in the Mobile” What to do about it! Read here.
