“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”

American science correspondent Miles O’Brien takes us on a rare look inside the slow and dangerous clean up of the Fukushima nuclear crisis. The plant consisted of six boiling water reactors (BWR – VIDEO) making Fukushima Daiichi one of the 15 largest nuclear power stations in the world. The site of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan remains a post-apocalyptic landscape of abandoned towns, frozen in time. O’Brien got a rare tour inside the plant, where three nuclear reactors melted down after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011, to learn more about the long-term solutions for stemming the radioactive contamination. (PBS) Our thoughts go out to veteran science and aerospace reporter, Miles O’Brien who was injured on his way back from reporting on Japan’s radioactive Fukushima power plant.(WUSA9) More: here for some strong in depth Al Jazeera reports and articles. “Chernobyl, My Primeval, Teeming, Irradiated Eden”, article hereFDA Response to the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Facility Incident here
